On-screen
Display
I
sell mostly through galleries and art shows, where customers can see my work printed on fine-art paper or and framed. On this web site, I tried to display the prints in a manner that closely resembles reality, i.e.
- the
prints appear on screen in the same ratio as the final product; the
amount of print showing through the mat is the same as in a print you
can buy, regardless of its final size.
- the same goes for the mats. The amount of white space around the print simulates the size of the mat, regardless of size.
- I
designed a "virtual frame" that matches closely the final appearance of
my Small and Large prints once they are matted and framed.
- All canvas incorporate a gallery wrap and can be hung as is. Framing is optional.
- colorwise, the "on-screen" prints come as close as possible to reality, except that they are prepared in a reduced color space (sRGB) that is more appropriate for computer displays. The prints are optimized for monitors with a gamma of 2.2. A high-quality monitor makes a significant difference in observing the prints as close to their true colors as possible.

Fine-art paper prints
I use 4-ply bright-white acid-free, archival alphacellulose fine-art paper and mats for my Small and Medium prints.
Canvas
I use 100% pure cotton matte canvas of the highest quality to produce my large archival quality images, resulting in brilliant velvety colors, exceptional contrast and razor-sharp details.
I stretch the finished canvas myself on high quality 3/4" or 1-1/2" stretcher bars from Canada and finish the prints with a layer of glossy/satin varnish for a beautiful sheen, as well as anti-UV and humidity protection.
The results are stunning and need to be seen to be truly appreciated. My canvas prints are often mistaken for oil painting originals. They can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge and they'll keep their brilliant color for decades.
Signing
I sign all images by hand directly on the surface of the print/canvas with a silver- or gold-colored archival pen. I do not sign on the mat because I realize you may want to change the mat at some point, to match a new decor or color theme. The signature stays with the print/canvas.
Framing
Small and Medium prints are only sold matted. Some galleries also carry matted 16"x20" prints, matted and framed to 22"x28".
The 1-1/2 inch "gallery-wrap" on my canvas prints creates a unique artistic appearance as the image continues to fold around the sides to the back. There is no need for frames or glass. They are beautiful plain and ready to hang up on a wall just as they are.
Printing
Process
My prints-on-canvas are individually-produced, high-resolution "giclées" made in my own studio on a sophisticated wide format inkjet printer. Giclée, pronounced "Zhee-Clay" or "Gee-Clay" derived from the French for "Squirt" ink, was originally developed in 1989 as a digital alternative to lithographic reproduction. The Giclée Print Process today has far surpassed the dpi (dots per inch) resolution of traditional lithographs and is now the world's preferred standard for fine art print reproductions.
