2011 TRAVELS - YEAR IN REVIEW
In early February 2011, I returned to Maui and Molokai to gather additional material for what was rapidly becoming one of my niche stock portfolio.
In May, I partnered with Ron Flickinger to shoot Santorini Island in the Agean Sea.
For 5 days I walked up and down the steep alleyways of Oia Village, hauling my heavy camera bag and tripod.
We flew back to Athens, then Rome and caught a train to La Spezia to spend 5 days in Cinque Terre
In June, Patricia and I flew to Montreal for a cousin's wedding. We then drove to Maine and spent a couple of nights in Bar Harbor, exploring Acadia N.P.
In July, I had a productive trip with partner Charles Wood, researching and shooting locations for future editions of my books
In September, I spent two weeks on my own on a highly productive trip to Europe.
I worked extremely hard on this trip, which required a lot of focus and effort, as well as a lot of driving. I began in France, covering Normandy, Giverny, Alsace and Annecy.
Moving on to Italy, I covered Lake Como and South Tyrol (Alto Adige).
then it was on to Slovenia
followed by Austria
finishing in Bavaria
In early October, I spent a bit of time along the coast in La Jolla.
In late October, I spent some time in and around zion, visiting or revisiting locations.
One of the most enjoyable experience of the trip was a nighttime hike to Observation Point to catch sunrise.
I also shot the White Domes of Canaan Mountain on an exhilarating daytrip with Charles Wood.
Finishing with the Vortex near St.George
In November, Absolute Maui was released. A wonderful coffee table book on the island, including two double spreads of mine
In December, I shot in Manhattan Beach
Then in Tucson
and I finished the year in Palm Desert
